The Greenwood County Community Foundation has announced that it will present 3 awards at its upcoming “Celebrating A Giving Community” dinner gala on Thursday, October 18th. Designed to recognize and honor philanthropic work in Greenwood County, the recipients will be selected by a panel of community leaders from submitted nominations.
The first award will recognize an individual or individuals who have, in the past year, demonstrated an unselfish regard for their community neighbors, a concern for the advancement of human welfare, and a desire to promote the common good. The honoree(s) will be recognized with the “Spirit of Philanthropy” award.
Also, the evening’s festivities will also see an influential Greenwood native, either living or deceased, honored with the “Lifetime of Philanthropy” award. The recipient of this award will possess a philanthropic resume that reflects an abiding love of the community, a lifetime of contributions within Greenwood County which have resulted in significant positive growth and a profound improvement in our quality of life. This person should also display a selfless desire to address core issues that affect many of our citizens.
Additionally, the dinner gala will recognize the 2018 Duke Energy “Citizenship and Service” award, which pays tribute to individuals who use their time, talent and compassion to positively affect the lives of others in their communities or in the workplace. Recipients of this award help foster a culture of citizenship and service that acts as a catalyst for others to become involved in civic and social activities.
